IL SB3081

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to extend the statute of limitations for financial exploitation of elderly persons and persons with disabilities to 7 years from the last act committed in furtherance of the offense.

Creates a new subsection (a-5) in Section 3-5 establishing a 7-year limitations period for prosecutions involving theft of real property exceeding $100,000, identity theft, aggravated identity theft, and offenses under Article 16H or Section 17-10.6.

Moves provisions previously located in Section 3-6(k) regarding the 7-year limitations period for certain theft and identity theft offenses to the new subsection (a-5) in Section 3-5.

Maintains existing limitations periods for other offenses while specifically extending protections for victims of financial crimes and exploitation through longer prosecution windows.
