SB3119 Summary

• Exempts the Department of Juvenile Justice School District from various state education statutes and requirements, including provisions in the School Code related to school boards, personnel, curriculum, and funding.

• Excludes DJJ schools from applicability of statutory requirements first enacted after the effective date of this act unless explicitly stated to apply to the DJJ School District.

• Defines the DJJ School District as excluded from multiple education-related acts including the Illinois School Student Records Act, Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act, Education for Homeless Children Act, and Critical Health Problems and Comprehensive Health Education Act.

• Applies the DJJ exemption to numerous other statutes covering school safety drills, toxic art supplies, diabetes care, physical fitness facilities, pest control, missing children records, lawn care products, soccer goal safety, and vehicle transportation requirements.
