SB3160 Summary

• Secretary of State must notify drivers whose licenses are suspended of an option to enroll in a driver education program to potentially terminate the suspension.

• Drivers who complete the program within 45 days and commit no similar driving offenses within 6 months of notice have their license suspension terminated.

• Driver must report to Secretary of State upon program completion and submit any documentation deemed necessary by the Secretary.

• Exception applies: Program option does not apply to suspensions resulting from violations of Section 11-501 (DUI/driving under influence) or similar offenses, or any violation where alcohol or drug use is an element of the offense.
