IL SB3177

Amends Illinois Vehicle Code Section 11-701 to add reference to new Section 11-907.5 regarding disabled vehicles.

Creates new Section 11-907.5 requiring drivers approaching a disabled vehicle with hazard lights on a highway with at least 4 lanes (2+ in same direction) to either change lanes away from the disabled vehicle or reduce speed to a safe level.

Lane change or speed reduction requirement applies only when practicable with due regard to safety and traffic conditions.

Violation of the disabled vehicle approach requirement constitutes a petty offense.
