Sheriff must notify the Department of Corrections of commitment orders and the Department must accept transfer within 48 hours of notification.

If the Department cannot accept the transfer due to lack of available space, it must take custody of the prisoner within 7 calendar days.

The State shall pay all expenses incurred for custody time after the Department is notified of the transfer and before the prisoner is transferred to the Department of Corrections.

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections (730 ILCS 5/5-8-5) regarding offender commitment procedures and cost allocation between the State and counties.
