Freddie Tegel of Waukegan passed away on May 29, 2016, at age 89.

Served as a Private in the United States Army, 304th Operations Signal Battalion in Japan from May 7, 1945 to December 15, 1945.

Worked as a Lieutenant on the Waukegan Fire Department for over 28 years before retiring.

Was a member of Mother of God Church, Queen of Peace, St. Anastasia, North East Illinois Retired Firefighters Association, SNPJ, and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Illinois Senate extends condolences to his surviving son Don (Julie) Meadie, and grandson Patrick Meadie.
