Robert G. Bayness of Rock Island died on June 3, 2016; he was born February 20, 1931 in Iowa to Joe and Grace Green Bayness.

Bayness graduated from Oelwein High School in Iowa in 1949, served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956, and moved to Rock Island in 1950.

Bayness worked as a carpenter for Bob Bower Construction Company for 13 years and sold real estate for Oakwood Realty Company for 25 years before retiring in December 1996; he also built Coachwood Condos in Rock Island.

Bayness was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church and participated in 13 mission trips; he enjoyed fitness activities including biking, running, and spending time with family and friends.

Illinois Senate extends condolences to Bayness's surviving nephews and nieces and directs that a copy of the resolution be presented to his family.
