James N. Urhausen of St. Charles passed away on December 2, 2015, at age 72.

Urhausen served as the first Village Manager of Oak Brook in 1969 at age 26 and oversaw development that made it a major Illinois suburban commercial hub.

As President and CEO of Westway Construction from 1984 to 2003, he oversaw development of more than 1,500 homes in the Fox Valley and was responsible for annexation, zoning, and development of approximately 4,000 acres in Kane, Kendall, and DuPage Counties.

Urhausen served 25 years as Chairman of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for St. Charles and held leadership positions with multiple community organizations including Glenwood School for Boys and Girls, the Neighborhood Improvement Association, and Delnor-Community Health Care System.

The Illinois Senate extends condolences to his four children, two grandchildren, five siblings, and extended family.
