Marcia L. Markwalder of Bartonville passed away on June 18, 2016, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to her family and friends.

Markwalder was born July 4, 1932, and served as Mayor of the Village of Bartonville from 1997 to 2005.

She worked at Bartonville Bank for many years and was active in numerous community organizations including the Oak Grove Grade School District PTA and School Board, Femme Unirs Women's Club, and Farm Bureau.

She held leadership positions as president of the Femme Unirs Women's Club (1992-1995 and 2006-2008), president of the Splash Committee, and member of the GSWC Illinois State Board.

She is survived by her husband David R. Markwalder, two sons (Douglas and Jeffery), two grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.
