James Edward Gallagher passed away on May 18, 2016, at age 90, after being born on February 18, 1926.

Served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a radio operator in Iran, Turkey, and the Persian Gulf, and was a Veterans of Foreign Wars member for over 60 years.

Worked as a Local 63 Ironworker and co-founded the North Chicago Iron Works in 1966; volunteered with P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) for 25 years.

Was an accomplished musician playing piano, saxophone, and clarinet, and was a member of St. Anastasia Roman Catholic Church for 60 years and a Third Degree Knight of Columbus for over 50 years.

Left behind 8 children, 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; the Senate expresses sympathy to his family and friends.
