Illinois Senate mourns the death of Melvin J. Toyra of Waukegan, who passed away on June 20, 2016

Toyra was born April 14, 1932 in Negaunee, Michigan, moved to Waukegan in 1950, served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, and married Charlotte Johnson on April 25, 1953

Retired from Johns Mansville in 1994 after 40 years of service and was a member of Homer Dahringer American Legion Post 281, Chain O'Lakes Model A Club, and 2E Wisconsin Antique Power and Collectibles Society

Survived by three sons (Robert, David, and Peter Toyra), three grandsons (Sean, Thomas, and Colin), two brothers (Richard and William), and several nieces and nephews

Senate extends condolences to Toyra's family and friends, with a suitable copy of the resolution to be presented to the family
