Jean Alice Augusta Carter-Hill of Chicago passed away on June 24, 2016, and the Illinois Senate mourns her death and extends condolences to her family and friends.

Worked for the Chicago Public School District for 25 years and was a star basketball player at Woodstock High School in Memphis, Tennessee.

Co-founded Imagine Englewood IF in 1997, serving as executive director to focus on community health and youth development.

Led community efforts to tear down an abandoned hospital building near Nicholson School in 1996 and established the Jean Carter-Hill Community Garden.

Founded the Englewood Community Cultural Planning Council to address community issues through arts and cultural initiatives.
