Anthony "Tony" Zelnio of Moline passed away on August 4, 2016, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Born April 28, 1924, to Dyzmo and Maria (Ivanowski) Zelnio; served as a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Stalag IX, Germany, earning the Purple Heart.

Worked at John Deere Harvester Works and Reynolds Engineering for a combined 40 years; married Norma L. Dendooven on July 3, 1945.

Active member of St. Mary's Church, Material Handling Society, John Deere Supervisors Club, American Legion Post 246, and American Prisoners of War Society.

Survived by three sons (Thomas, Robert, and William), eight grandchildren (Jeff, Ryan, Kevin, Erin, Chris, Stephanie, Elizabeth, and Steven), and six great-grandchildren (Elliot, Freya, Ariana, Madoc, Noah, and Hudson).
