Christ F. Schwelle of Bloomington died on August 19, 2016; he was born March 7, 1942 in Chicago to Christian and Victoria Ellinger Schwelle and married Diane Clever on June 8, 1968.

Graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago and earned an associate degree from Wright Junior College and bachelor's and master's degrees from Eastern Illinois University.

Worked at Illinois State University starting in 1968 in various student affairs positions, serving as director of Bone Student Center and Braden Auditorium from 1978 to 1999, where he established the Braden "Stars on Stage Series."

Served as president of the ISU Annuitants Association from 2006 to 2010 and received the Neil R. Gamsky Quality of Student Life Award and Administrative/Professional Staff Distinguished Service Award.

Survived by his wife Diane, daughters Karen and Kim Schwelle, and various extended family members; the Illinois Senate mourns his passing and will present a resolution to his family.
