William E. "Billy" Ackley of Moline passed away on August 14, 2016; he was born March 5, 1948 in Davenport, Iowa to Edward B. and Eleanor Payson Ackley.

Ackley was a United States Marine Corps veteran who worked as a bricklayer and later served as maintenance supervisor at Trinity Medical Centers for 29 years in Moline and Rock Island.

Ackley was an active athlete and sports enthusiast, participating in the inaugural Bix 7 race, playing softball and racquetball, bowling at Highland Park Bowl for over 30 years, and enjoying fishing trips to Canada and watching the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Lions.

Ackley married Gloria Prieto on August 6, 1977 and is survived by his wife, two daughters (Gina Bundy and Felicia Van Hyfte), five grandchildren, and his brother Donald Ackley.

The Illinois Senate expresses sympathy for Ackley's passing and directs that a copy of this resolution be presented to his family.
