Leonard John "LJ" Marak of McHenry passed away on August 23, 2016

Marak was born May 3, 1976 in Arlington Heights and graduated from Palatine High School in 1994; he married Kimberly A. Grinnell on September 18, 2004

Worked at Palatine Police Department as a police assistant before earning an Associate in Criminal Justice from Harper Community College and graduating from the police academy at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2002

Served with the Huntley Police Department for 14 years and achieved the rank of Sergeant; was actively involved with the Citizens Police Academy and Alumni Association
