Illinois Senate mourns the death of Alyce Joyce Shay of McHenry, who died on August 22, 2016

Alyce Shay was born December 5, 1936, in Chicago and married John J. Shay on October 4, 1958; she graduated from Wilkins School of Music in 1955 and opened the Alyce Joyce Music Studio in 1957, teaching organ students until the studio closed in 2009

She served as church organist and prayer line founder at Church of Holy Apostles and hosted community events including annual Fiesta Days parties and yearly "blessing of the boats" ceremonies on the Fox River

Alyce Shay is survived by two sons (Kevin and Darren), two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two siblings

Senate extends sincere condolences to Shay's family and directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to them
