Clive Allen Follmer passed away on August 14, 2016; he was born October 1, 1931 in Forrest to Eva Jane and William G. Follmer.

Attended University of Illinois from 1949 to 1953 with a degree in commerce; played baseball and basketball for the Fighting Illini, taking the basketball team to Final Four tournaments in 1951 and 1952, and was named Big Ten Athlete of the Year in 1953.

Served as a White Sox Minor League pitcher for two years, then as a U.S. Army officer stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from 1955 to 1957; attended law school at University of Illinois and graduated in 1958, practicing law in Champaign County until retirement in 2014.

Worked as a real estate developer and played a vital role in developing southeast Urbana; was a history enthusiast, world traveler, avid gardener, and enjoyed golf, piano, and accordion.

Illinois Senate expresses sympathy to his surviving family: children Randy (Linda) Follmer, Darcy Gentner, Kent Follmer, and Jacqueline Follmer; brothers Mack and Leon Follmer; sister Juanita Mykkanen; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
