Veigel was born in Besigheim, Germany on June 28, 1939, immigrated to the United States at age 18, and served four years in the United States Army

Worked for John Deere Harvester Works for 34 years and was a Mason for 47 years at the Doric Lodge-Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Moline

Survived by his son Erich, daughter Heidi, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and relatives in Germany

Senate extends condolences to his family and directs a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to the Veigel family
