Illinois Senate mourns the death of Dr. Thompson T. Wright Sr., who passed away on September 27, 2016.

Dr. Wright Sr. was born July 5, 1919, in Prince Edward Island, Canada; served in the Canadian Army during World War II as an artillery surveyor and gunnery officer from January 1940 to January 1946, achieving the rank of Captain.

Graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 1952 and established Wright Animal Hospital in Des Plaines in 1954, which he operated until retiring in October 1981.

Served as President of the Illinois Academy of Veterinary Medicine in 1974, President of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association in 1980, and held leadership positions with the Des Plaines Kiwanis Club, Des Plaines Park District, Elks Club, Boy Scouts of America, and Community Chest.

Survived by nine children, 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his sister Marian MacDonald.
