Illinois Senate honors Carl J. "Duke" Trent of Rock Island, who died on October 18, 2016.

Trent was born June 24, 1917 in Brewster, Nebraska, and married Donna E. Boyer on September 6, 1947.

Served with the United States Army in Africa and Italy during World War II.

Worked as a coal miner, at John Deere Plow Planter, and as a truck driver for Phillips Petroleum for many years.

Survived by his wife Donna, three sons, seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; was a member of Oak Ridge Bible Chapel in Milan.
