Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of Earl G. Weichel of Rantoul, who passed away on July 2, 2016

Weichel was born December 22, 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa and married Joan L. Dettmann on July 10, 1959

Served in United States Navy and Army from 1946 to 1954 and worked in management at Caradco until retirement in 1995

Held leadership positions in Rantoul community including director of Armed Services YMCA, Rantoul Chamber of Commerce, Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum, Rantoul Community Foundation, and Rantoul Rotary Club; received "Outstanding Citizen of the Year" award

Survived by wife Joan, children Pamela Harris and Craig Weichel, granddaughter Alyssa Harris, son-in-law Tom Harris, and sisters Hilda Shade and Glenda Reynolds
