Rev. Rollin Gordon Oswald, born June 17, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on November 17, 2016.

Served as Superintendent of Cedar Rapids School District and was ordained as a Methodist minister in 1949; earned a Bachelor of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary.

Served in Methodist churches across Iowa including St. Ansgar, Dubuque, Mount Vernon, Iowa Falls, and West Des Moines; received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Simpson College in 1982.

After retirement in 1988, continued ministry as an associate at St. James United Methodist Church and as Chaplain at Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids.

Illinois Senate mourns his passing and extends condolences to his surviving family: four children, multiple grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
