Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of Wayne N. "Buck" Meyer of Tuscola, who passed away on October 24, 2016.

Meyer graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 1949 as homecoming king and football MVP, and earned a Bachelor of Science in agronomy from the University of Illinois in 1953.

Served as Second Lieutenant and later Captain in the United States Air Force from 1954-1956 and 1963-1965, then farmed in Douglas County for 40 years until retirement in 1996.

Held leadership positions in the Douglas County Soil and Water Conservation District for 17 years (9 as chairman), the Illinois Corn Marketing Board for 8 years, and the American Legion and Farm Bureau, and served as an agricultural adviser to U.S. Representative Tom Ewing.

A suitable copy of this resolution shall be presented to the Meyer family as an expression of sympathy.
