Philip Guentert, age 58, passed away on November 7, 2016.

Earned bachelor's degree from Yale University, master's degree in public policy from Harvard Kennedy School, and Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.

Served as assistant United States attorney in Chicago beginning in 1990, founding the public corruption section and working on prosecutions of former Illinois governors George Ryan and Rod Blagojevich.

Worked in San Jose, California as prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California starting in 2012, and served as the Department of Justice's intellectual property law enforcement coordinator throughout Asia.

Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his surviving wife Monika, daughters Eleanor and Louise, and brother James.
