Persons convicted of Class X or Class 1 felonies involving controlled substances are permanently ineligible for cash assistance under the Illinois Public Aid Code.

Persons convicted of other drug-related felonies (not Class X or Class 1) are ineligible for cash assistance for 2 years from the date of conviction, unless they are enrolled in a drug treatment, aftercare, or similar program.

Persons with drug-related felony convictions cannot be denied food stamps (SNAP benefits) based solely on their drug conviction.

Notwithstanding other provisions, persons cannot be denied cash assistance under Article IV (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) based on any drug-related felony conviction under state or federal law.
