Requires Illinois medical assistance program to cover over-the-counter medications when prescribed by a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or qualified medical provider.

Mandates pharmacies be reimbursed at the same rate for prescribed over-the-counter medications as they receive for covered prescription medications.

Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to establish guidelines and standards through administrative rule regarding documentation requirements for providers prescribing over-the-counter medications.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
