Amends Section 12-807 of the Illinois Vehicle Code regarding school bus safety equipment.

Requires each school bus manufactured on or after the bill's effective date and purchased for use in Illinois to be equipped with 3-point seat belts or federally approved restraint systems meeting 49 CFR 571.222 standards.

Mandates sufficient seat belts or restraint systems so that each passenger can use a separate belt or system.

Maintains existing requirement that school buses have a retractable lap belt assembly for the driver's seat and that drivers properly restrain themselves while operating the bus.

May require state reimbursement under the State Mandates Act.
