IL HB0627

Amends the Charter Schools Law to prohibit charter schools established on or after this act's effective date from contracting with for-profit educational management organizations (EMOs) or charter management organizations (CMOs).

Requires all charter school authorizers to ensure that any charter school established after the effective date has a governing body that is separate and distinct from any CMO or EMO governing body.

Mandates that authorizers review governance models in charter applications and renewals to identify and prevent conflicts of interest between charter schools and management organizations.

Prohibits charter schools from employing staff members who are simultaneously employed by an EMO or CMO.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
