HB0691 - Public Safety Officer Privacy Act

• Establishes the Public Safety Officer Privacy Act to protect personal information (home address, phone numbers, email, financial account numbers, children's identities) of peace officers, firefighters, and correctional officers in Illinois.

• Requires government agencies and private entities to remove a public safety officer's personal information from publicly available content within 5 business days of receiving a written request, and prohibits future disclosure unless the officer consents.

• Prohibits any person, business, or association from soliciting, selling, or trading a public safety officer's personal information on the Internet with intent to pose an imminent and serious threat to the officer or their immediate family.

• Allows public safety officers to bring civil actions for injunctive or declaratory relief against violations of the act.

• Amends the Freedom of Information Act to exempt public safety officers' personal information from disclosure under that Act after a valid written request is submitted.
