Beginning with the next registration year after newly designed standard registration plates are distributed, the Secretary of State shall issue one registration plate instead of two for newly registered motor vehicles.

The single registration plate shall be attached to the rear of the vehicle instead of front and rear placement required under current law.

References to "plates" in plural in Illinois law or rules shall be deemed to reference the single registration plate required by this amendment.

Changes apply to Section 1-171, 3-412, and 3-413 of the Illinois Vehicle Code concerning registration plate issuance and display requirements.
