IL HB1802

Amends Section 12-807 of the Illinois Vehicle Code concerning school bus seat belt requirements.

Requires each school bus manufactured on or after the bill's effective date and purchased for use in Illinois to be equipped with 3-point seat belts or federally approved restraint systems under 49 CFR 571.222.

Mandates a sufficient number of seat belts or restraint systems so each passenger can use a separate belt or system.

Maintains existing requirement that school buses have a retractable lap belt assembly for the driver's seat and that drivers properly use the lap belt.
