IL HB2530

Establishes licensure and regulation of naturopathic physicians in Illinois under the Medical Practice Act of 1987, including educational standards requiring graduation from an approved naturopathic medical program with at least 4,200 hours of training.

Requires naturopathic physicians to pass the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examination (NPLEX) or equivalent national licensing exam administered by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners.

Adds one naturopathic physician member to both the Medical Licensing Board (7 members total) and Medical Disciplinary Board (12 members total) to oversee licensure and discipline.

Makes conforming changes across multiple state laws including the Geriatric Medicine Assistance Act, School Code, Illinois Insurance Code, Naprapathic Practice Act, Illinois Physical Therapy Act, and Health Care Arbitration Act to recognize naturopathic physicians as licensed practitioners.

Effective immediately upon passage, allowing Illinois citizens with naturopathic credentials to legally practice in the state under a defined regulatory framework.
