Interstate carriers operating intrastate in Illinois are exempt from displaying their intrastate authority number on vehicle cabs or power units, except for household goods carriers.

Intrastate carriers must continue to display their trade name or recognized logo along with license and registration numbers on both sides of vehicle cabs or power units.

Interstate carriers must display their registration or authority number on both sides of vehicle cabs or power units when operating on Illinois public roads.

Vehicles under 9,000 pounds gross vehicle weight may display carrier identification in a manner legible and visible from 25 feet away when stationary, rather than painted or affixed directly to the cab.

The bill does not supersede Illinois Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations regarding identification and markings of vehicles transporting hazardous materials.
