IL HB2721

Creates new Illinois Insurance Code Section 356z.25 requiring health insurance policies to cover treatment of pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS) and pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (PANS), including intravenous immunoglobulin therapy.

Extends PANDAS/PANS coverage requirement to state employees, county employees, municipal employees, and school district employees through amendments to their respective health insurance benefit provisions.

Applies coverage mandate to Health Maintenance Organizations, Limited Health Service Organizations, and Voluntary Health Services Plans through amendments to those acts.

Includes a federal compliance clause making the PANDAS/PANS coverage requirement inoperative if the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issues guidance requiring the state to defray coverage costs under the Affordable Care Act.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
