HB2765 Summary

• Specifies that $1 surcharges collected from registration fees for motor vehicles, autocycles, motorcycles, motor driven cycles, and pedalcycles shall be deposited into the State Police Vehicle Fund for acquisition of vehicles used in enforcement of traffic laws and promotion of safety of highways, roads, and streets.

• Clarifies the same surcharge purpose applies to second division vehicles registered under the flat weight tax system in the 8,000 lbs. and less category.

• Amends the State Property Control Act Section 7c to establish that State Police Vehicle Fund moneys shall be used for acquisition of vehicles for traffic law enforcement and highway safety, or for debt service on bonds issued for such vehicle acquisition.

• Effective immediately upon becoming law.
