Units of local government and school districts serving populations under 1,000,000 that maintain an Internet website must post a contact mechanism (such as a single email address) for public electronic communication with elected officials within 90 days of the bill's effective date.

The required contact information must be easily accessible from the organization's home page through a hyperlink.

Internet website requirement excludes social media and social networking platforms; organizations with individual email addresses for elected officials are exempt from the uniform email address requirement.

Home rule units are prohibited from adopting less restrictive posting requirements than those established by this Section.

State is not required to reimburse local governments or school districts for implementation costs under the State Mandates Act.
