• Amends Section 9-228 of the Illinois Pension Code regarding Cook County pension benefits for persons under legal disability.

• Allows the pension board to pay benefits directly to a Medicare-approved or state-certified nursing home, hospital, or mental institution if the disabled beneficiary has no spouse, blood relative, or guardian of their estate.

• Payment made to such institutions for the beneficiary's benefit constitutes full discharge of the fund's liability for that amount.

• Requires nursing homes, hospitals, and mental institutions receiving such payments to notify the fund of the beneficiary's death or any other relevant status changes.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
