IL HB2989

Prohibits the Department of Corrections from restricting or limiting in-person visits to incarcerated persons based on the availability of interactive video conferences.

Requires the Department to issue a standard written policy for each institution specifying the number of in-person visits per week and month, visiting hours, and identification requirements for visitors.

Mandates the Department post its visitation policy on its website and at each facility.

Requires the Department to post daily on its website any visitation restrictions or denials for the current day and following 5 calendar days, including those due to facility lockdowns.

Takes effect January 1, 2018.
