IL HB3032

Renames the "Interagency Base Support and Economic Development Committee" to the "Military Base Economic Development Committee" and relocates it from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

Expands the Committee's stated purposes to include preserving and attracting military missions and assets, encouraging defense-related business expansion, identifying emerging industry trends, and assisting communities impacted by federal base realignment and closure actions.

Increases public member representation from 8 to 10 representatives from counties with current or former military bases and adds up to 4 members with military veteran or defense industry backgrounds.

Establishes two vice-chairs for the Committee: the Director of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and a military veteran appointed by the Adjutant General of the Department of Military Affairs.

Implements attendance requirements whereby appointed members with at least 2 unexcused absences in a year are removed from the Committee and replaced in the same manner.
