IL HB3258

Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 to expand the definition of "annuitant" to include employees who retire on forms of authorized retirement benefit distribution other than an immediate annuity.

Specifically includes employees retiring under the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) self-managed plan who choose a distribution form other than an immediate retirement annuity.

Also clarifies that employees retiring under the optional retirement program established under Section 15-158.2 are considered annuitants regardless of their chosen distribution form.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
