IL HB3260

Requires each school board to develop a policy for determining classroom placement of children from the same family in the same grade at school.

Mandates that placement determinations be handled on a case-by-case basis with involvement of both teachers and parents or legal guardians.

Makes the parent's or legal guardian's preference on placement a determinative factor in the classroom assignment decision.

Applies to both regular school districts (Section 10-20.60) and charter schools (Section 34-18.53).

Takes effect upon becoming law.
