IL HB3423

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to change the timeframe for second or subsequent violations of operating a motor vehicle in a construction or maintenance speed zone when workers are present from 2 years to 1 year.

Reduces the driver's license suspension period for these repeat violations from 90 days to 60 days.

Also modifies Section 6-206 of the Vehicle Code to make conforming changes related to the construction speed zone violation provisions.

Applies the modified penalties to violations occurring under both Section 11-605.1 of the Vehicle Code and similar local ordinances.
