IL HB3482

Expands eligibility for multi-function school activity bus (MFSAB) transportation to include any student in grade 12 or below, removing previous restrictions that limited use to grades 9-12 or specific schools with IEPs.

Allows MFSABs to transport grade 12 and below students for curriculum-related school activities including home-to-school transport, inter-school shuttles, vocational center trips, and curriculum-connected field trips.

Permits MFSABs to transport students for interscholastic, interscholastic-athletic, and school-sponsored noncurriculum-related activities (such as sports competitions and optional school events), subject to conditions in the bill.

Requires MFSAB drivers to hold valid school bus driver permits and comply with existing vehicle code requirements regarding inspections, maintenance, and safety standards.

Exempts second division vehicles used for parades, homecomings, and similar noncurriculum-related school activities from the transportation restrictions in the bill.
