IL HB3490

Amends the Nursing Education Scholarship Law to expand the definition of "approved institution" to include post-licensure nursing education programs approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education or successor agency.

Adds "pre-licensure nursing education program" language to clarify eligible institutions must have Department of Financial and Professional Regulation approval for nursing programs at various levels (associate, baccalaureate, graduate, practical nursing, and certificate programs).

Defines "nurse educator" as a registered nurse with a graduate degree in nursing employed by an approved institution to teach registered nursing students, licensed practical nursing students, and nurses pursuing graduate degrees.

Establishes "nurse educator employment obligation" requiring scholarship recipients to work as nurse educators in Illinois for at least 2 years for each year of scholarship assistance received under Section 6.5.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
