Reduces the threshold for an uncontested municipal office from 4 to 2 candidates with timely filed valid nominating papers.

Changes the write-in candidate threshold that triggers a primary election from a fifth candidate to a third candidate.

Write-in candidates must file a statement of intent with the election official on or before the 61st day before the consolidated primary election.

Write-in candidates can only appear on the general election ballot if they receive votes in the primary equal to the required petition signatures or exceed votes received by at least one printed candidate.

Applies to nonpartisan primary and general municipal elections conducted under the Illinois Municipal Code.
