IL HB3694

Creates the Educational Credit for Military Experience Act requiring public institutions of higher education to adopt policies for awarding academic credit for military training applicable to certificate or degree programs by June 1, 2018.

Applies to military training courses or programs that are recommended for credit by a national higher education association, included in military transcripts from any armed services branch, or otherwise documented as military training or experience.

Requires institutions to develop procedures for receiving and verifying documentation of military training claims and provide copies of their credit policies to applicants who listed military service in their applications.

Mandates institutions develop and maintain a list of military training courses and programs that have qualified for academic credit.

Requires institutions to submit their policies to the Board of Higher Education or Illinois Community College Board before June 30, 2018 and every other year thereafter, with the Board collecting data on veterans' enrollment and completion outcomes.
