IL HB3851

Allows corporate authorities of home rule municipalities in counties with township organization to pass a resolution organizing the municipality into a new township, designating it as a "coterminous city."

Requires a petition signed by at least 200 voters of the municipality before corporate authorities can take action on coterminous city organization.

Mandates corporate authorities hold a public hearing on the petition with notice published at least 3 times in a local newspaper, with the first notice appearing at least 60 days before the hearing date.

Allows county board or corporate authorities of a home rule municipality to annul the automatic disconnection of territory from a coterminous township if either township objects within 180 days of a court order or ordinance permitting disconnection.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
