IL HB3889

Increases the penalty for fraudulently obtaining unemployment benefits from 15% to 125% of the fraudulently obtained amount.

Requires all collected penalties to be paid into the State's account in the Unemployment Trust Fund instead of being treated as benefits recovered from the individual.

Applies to individuals who knowingly make false statements or fail to disclose material facts for purposes of obtaining benefits they are not eligible to receive.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
