IL HB4209

Amends the School Code to require all school boards to establish full-day kindergarten beginning with the 2019-2020 school year (previously boards could choose between half-day or full-day attendance).

Removes the requirement that school boards petition process for establishing kindergartens based on at least 50 parents or guardians requesting one, making full-day kindergarten mandatory.

Repeals Section 10-20.19a of the School Code on July 1, 2019, which had allowed kindergartens to provide either half-day or full-day attendance.

Allows kindergarten teachers to hold either a certificate or license as provided by law.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
